The short of long distance training

Hey all. Many people question where we should meet on an early Saturday morning but few have the answer. Where would you like to meet? I feel the need to visit the past and meet at Nose Hill Park for some ups and downs...Let's meet at the parking lot on 14th Street and Berkley Gate in the NW. Yes, there is a bathroom...whether it will be open is a whole other story. See you there at 8 am.

Good luck to Russ, Ally, and all the rest trying their best at Ironman 70.3. As well, I hear that some of you are stretching their mileage and participating in the Women's Run. Good luck with ALL 6.2 miles or 10.0 km.

I budget for three days a week of trotting and a few other activities to fill out my exercise regime. I along with many of you have a tough time fitting it all in but I found the solution! Click on the photo for a look at the four minute workout myth.

Joy, can you pick up some briquettes on the way home?

I have had the pleasure of trotting 75 miles and three mountain peaks while experiencing the Canadian Death Race. This type of extreme endurance makes me ask...(from the NY Times)

Can You Get Too Much Exercise?

Joy, just think you get sandy beach and I get an ultra. The perfect holiday...

We are open. Tech Shop and Original Joe's for our re-dehydration routine

Good news for our fellow trotters. Lauren from the Tech Shop informed us that the store reopened on the weekend. We will go back to the routine of Tech Shop Tuesday and Thursday with a little bit of OJ's brown pop and fatty foods to make the week great!

Those of us that came out on Saturday are ecstatic!

See you in mission tomorrow.

A whole new pathway system

It is hard to believe all the damage we have seen to our little network of trails, bridges, and view-checks. Four weeks ago our pathways were forever changed by the rush of the Elbow and Bow Rivers as they hustled their way down from the Rockies.

Our opportunities to find a path and stick to it are rare around these parts. Every day I hear of a new path that has been washed out, detoured, or shouldn't be traveled. One of my work associates provided me with a map of Calgary paths and the issues we will face. It is pretty sad to understand...

There will be little bounce in the three bridges for many months

We have been trotting the last couple of weeks from McDonald's at Glenmore Landing until things settle down. The Tech Shop is still closed for business as the power has yet to be restored. Knowing the old business that is some big dollars in lost revenue for just one of many stores in Mission, never mind the staff we enjoy who have been without a wage for a month.

Tonight (if you get this in time) we are going to head one mile west of McDonald's and meet at the South Glenmore Park lot at 24th Street and 90th Avenue SW. There is a pub across the street and a wading pool to cool off with after the trot. See you there at 630 pm.

As for Saturday, let's meet at Max Bell Arena and take the canal pathway for a trot as it was saved from the destruction of the Bow. See you there at 8 am! it has the best view of the city.
Except the last time when it was really foggy.
But if you don't want to go there you can always do the MEC event at 9 am...

A few of you had shared this comic with me and so I must forward it on.

That's all for now. See you soon...
