The Story of Ish, Volume Two.

Good day friends, as the clock may show, I am a bit off on the right time. You might actually call me 'ishy'. A few weeks back I wrote about my penchant for ish-like behaviour. Rarely would you see me arrive at the exact time as planned.

Like two friends late for a wedding (you know who you are!), ish behavior can cause us all a bit of grief. At work we are lucky to have a meeting start or finish on time. We can be the kings of ish.

So to my surprise our friends at Global produced a segment all about me (or so I think) and my ability to ish the day away. Click on the photo for a good idea of where I get my talent for tardiness.

I follow a blog of a felllow ultra-runner who always has interesting insight to the ultra-mind. She drew up the below chart to describe what it would be like to date an ultra-runner. I think to all my friends who have conquered beyond the 42.2 threshold of the ultra and think she has virtually every positive and negative covered. Unless you know some to add. What would they be?
Can we talk poop?
So, last weekend we had a great group of trotters out to try the Reservoir trails. They were quite good which bodes well for this weekend. Let's meet Saturday at 9am from the same Glenmore Landing McDonald's parking lot and we can change our direction this time. Shall we see a repeat of all these friendly faces? Quiz time, which of those below will be doing their FIRST Ultra-runner 50 km this May???

I see Carroll, Lorianne, Tamara, Christine, Shar, Char, Bob, Kristin, and Chris
I see walkers and runners and run/walkers
And I see blue!

A New Years Resolution?

I often wonder about New Years resolutions. Every year our friends ask what we will resolve and share their own decisions. Every year (it seems) we discover that a resolution is just mirage of good intentions. But this year I resolve to stick to my resolution which was...oh, I didn't make one - shit.

Last year was the first year since my first marathon in 1996 that I failed to attempt and complete the distance. I just didn't sign up for anything. In fact I only did two races the entire year. The five km Zoo-run-run and the Tracey Flagg Harvest Half Marathon. I remember years of seven marathons in a summer. I must be getting old. Shit.

Isn't it funny that I am the 'normal' one in this picture?
This week I signed up for a program called 'Forty Days of Fitness', or in my case Fatness. Calipers, scales, and then activity are in my future. If my first day is a sign of the rest of the program I could be in trouble. I am not at work for the first day of class. Shit.

So tomorrow we need to start this training with the first trot of 2015. Time for a change which means a different location. Let's start from the McDonald's at Glenmore Landing for a walk or trot. Christine, Joy, and Tamara are already confirmed. Will we see you too?

Well, time to play hockey. Happy New Year my friends.
